  • FEAR NOT

    The trade of doubting

"When the Christian trusts, he is happy; when he doubts, he is miserable. When the believer looks to his Master and relies upon him, he can sing; when he doubts his Master, he can only groan. What miserable wretches the most faithful Christians are when they once begin doubting and fearing! It is a trade I never like to meddle with, because it never pays the expenses, and never brings in any profit —the trade of doubting."

    - Charles Spurgeon, Fear Not

  • I have been here often in the land of fear in the past year or so. Saying I will trust and then allowing my earthly vision to take over. And then what a sad sack I am. This learning to walk by faith and not by sight is a long hard lesson to learn.
One day faith will be sight and there will be no more groaning. :)

  • @slgb65 - Oh for the day for the no more groaning.....I just paid bills.....mortgage and credit cards....but we do have some left for groceries....Yea Jesus....

  • What a powerful statement in just a few words....how often we give in to fear, when the very God of the universe hears our every prayer!  He's longing to come and answer them, too!  thanks for the encouragement, Susan!  remember that He is bigger than all our problems, and He will walk us out of them into freedom.   hugs!   (our preacher keeps reminding us that God is not a microwave God, He is more like a crockpot...slow and steady to produce the delicious fruit He longs to see in our lives)
