  • SUNDAY HYMN

    We sang this in church this morning and it is something I would love to be done at my funeral…

    Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
    Let me hide myself in Thee;
    Let the water and the blood,
    From Thy wounded side which flowed,
    Be of sin the double cure;
    Save from wrath and make me pure.

    Not the labor of my hands
    Can fulfill Thy law’s demands;
    Could my zeal no respite know,
    Could my tears forever flow,
    All for sin could not atone;
    Thou must save, and Thou alone.

    Nothing in my hand I bring,
    Simply to the cross I cling;
    Naked, come to Thee for dress;
    Helpless look to Thee for grace;
    Foul, I to the fountain fly;
    Wash me, Savior, or I die.

    While I draw this fleeting breath,
    When mine eyes shall close in death,
    [originally When my eye-strings break in death]
    When I soar to worlds unknown,
    See Thee on Thy judgment throne,
    Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
    Let me hide myself in Thee.

  • I love this song, too, Susan. Have you ever heard Vestal Goodman sing it? Here is the link on YouTube  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eB5Sc5vewcI   Listen as she sings: “While I draw this fleeting breath, When mine eyes shall close in death, When I soar to worlds unknown, See Thee on Thy judgment throne, Rock of Ages, cleft for me,
    Let me hide myself in Thee.”  AMEN!!

  • Oh yes my mother loves cow things LOL :)

  • I love this song too. I love the way the air feels when these old songs are sung. The new ones are good but the old ones just have so much more weighty goodness.
    And like the comment above…..Vestal Goodman does this song great honor.

  • Love that song!! I love you code of ethics. I am pretty good at it, and exclude a few sites, but I am cautiously inclusive.  I am proud to see someone in Xanga with high standards.

    RYC I love to walk. After I had my first heart attack at age 40 I went from 224 to 170 (now 165) and started jogging until I got bursitis in my heal. Then I started walking and have kept it up all these years. My cardiologist says my health has more to do with walking than eating.  On a scale of 1 to 10, my eating habits are about a 7.

    Thanks for the visit and encouragement.

    Blessings

    frank
